My main work is as a front end developer and I enjoying creating high end websites using standards compliant sites. I pride myself on my knowledge of these technologies and the associated requirements to be able to use them well and enjoy. I am very concerned about accessibility and always produce work that is accessible and coded to a high standard. In all aspects of my work I am very mindful of accessibility and multi-platform considerations.
Presently I am working at Glasses Direct on a variety of projects, these include designing and implementing html, css and javascript standards, rebuilding and re-organising the Smarty templates in a more logical fashion. In addition I am building various javascript, ajax and html prototypes
I worked on this Web 2.0 application re-building the front end and fixing javascript problems for during October and November 2007
I have been working remotely from Japan for @ww Digital on a number of projects including the BBC's Apprentice site and work for ING Direct. All these sites have been built using CSS layouts and semantic mark up
Venda is a major provider of e-commerce solutions for a number of clients such as the BBC, British Telecom etc. They provide their own e-commerce platform and design their clients sites to fit in with this platform. I was orginally working on an US based website for a company called Jaystrong Water and then another called. This involved editing the Venda e-commerce files (based on Perl) and then adding other html elements and/or Venda tags as required. Most of the work could be done by manipulting existing stylesheets, either adding or modifying styles.
After this work I worked on some new venda sites doing CSS based work, these include Only a Pony, BT where I did some flash based work around Christmas
TWI is a major producer of sports based content and websites. I worked with them on a single project doing HTML and CSS coding within an XLST framework. This meant building the site within the XLST as it was to be incorporated into a database driven site. The actual site worked on the new Manchester United website. I worked on a variey of areas on the site (some listed below) but only did the content areas as the main outer structure had been built before I started working for TWI.
I was employed here as a freelance consultant. Big interactive is a multimedia agency specialising in e-commerce sites for clients such as Mastercard, Cadbury, Excel and Cancer Research. The sites are listed in the order that they were built the oldest being at the bottom. Some sites are not included here though they have been built as they have not gone live yet, these include Boost and Cancer Research. I also worked on a number of intranets such for Mastercard, Mastercard and Maestro Uk. In addition to using HTML and CSS I also did a number of flash based project and some PHP based websites. From August 2000 I worked at the BBC's Radio and Music Interactive department for nearly 5 years, leaving in March 2005. Radio and Music Interactive looks after all the BBC main radio sites such as Radio1 and all the new digital channels, it is a very progressive and forward looking department and has built many interesting award winning websites and applications such as the Radio Player. It has been responsible for a huge increase in the use of the BBC's radio web sites and for online listen.
